You will require termite protection to meet the Australian Standards, if not you will not be issued your certificate of occupancy making you unable to finalise your building permit.
Slab homes require 2 stages of treatment
All penetrations (plumbing, electrical and joins in the slab) require treatment or physical barriers. This stage is carried out before the slab is poured.
The perimeter of the slab/home requires a chemical treatment or physical barrier. This stage is normally carried out before the frame is installed.
Stump and footing constructed homes
These require all stumps and footings (wherever the home meets the ground) to be treated either chemical or physical barrier depending on the construction method. Ant caps should still be fitted to the stumps but are not a termite treatment and still require a barrier.

Did you know Termite damage is not covered by home insurance?
Annual termite inspections are recommended every 12 months as a minimum under Australian Standards.
Termite inspections are designed to find any activity before it’s too late. Most termite barriers are designed to stop concealed termite entry. Even if you have a current treatment this may be bridged, things that may breach barriers include, garden beds, landscaping, concrete paths, renovation’s or stored goods.
If you think you may have termites you should leave it for a professional to look at (don’t spray them with aerosol’s) and book in a termite inspection.
Our termite inspection will come with a written report highlighting any concerns or recommendations to protect your property.
